Rogers Hometown Hockey comes to Niagara and Kingston
Hometowns. Big Stars. Another season of Canada’s ultimate touring hockey festival is back. Rogers Hometown Hockey™ will hit the road again, visiting 24 communities from coast-to-coast to tell the unique stories that unite the country through the sport it loves most – hockey. (See locations, dates and broadcast details below).
Free of charge and open to fans of all ages, the jam-packed two-day festival features live entertainment, local celebrities, NHL alumni and a multitude of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Each week concludes with an outdoor viewing party of an NHL® game broadcast nationally on Sportsnet™ and hosted by Ron MacLean and Tara Slone. The Tour makes its first stop of 2017-18 in Niagara Falls, ON on October 7 and 8, at Niagara Parks’ Queen Victoria Park. As part of the opening weekend festivities, award-winning Canadian country star Tim Hicks will perform in his hometown on Sunday evening.
“From having the honour of being on RMC campus over Remembrance Day weekend to shining a light on the recovery efforts in Williams Lake come January, Rogers Hometown Hockey connects Canadians all across the country,” said MacLean. “Every Sunday, we pull out the hockey roadmap and discover a part of Canada and ourselves.”
“It’s amazing to me that we are on season four of Rogers Hometown Hockey and there are still so many wonderful places in this country that we have left to discover,” said Slone. “We have been welcomed so graciously by Canadians from coast-to-coast and I’m looking forward to feeling that warmth, hospitality and excitement from this year’s group of hometowns.”
This year’s tour features stops in several CHL communities including OHL markets like Niagara Falls and Kingston, QMJHL markets Charlottetown and Bathurst, and WHL markets Kamloops and Regina.
Live on Sportsnet
Each community that is visited is featured on the weekly Sunday broadcast of Rogers Hometown Hockey on Sportsnet and Sportsnet NOW™. Live on location from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio, MacLean and Slone host a pre-game, intermission and post-game show that highlights the local culture, hockey history and unique stories of each hometown.
