The OHL champions picked up where they left off in the OHL Playoffs, sporting new white jerseys while defeating the Peterborough Petes 5-2 on the road as Christian Girhiny (1,2) earned first star honours with two goals and an assist. Ivan Lodnia (1) and Alex Gritz (1) also found the back of the net while Taylor Raddysh (1) potted a shorthanded breakaway in his return from Tampa Bay Lightning training camp. Overage netminder Troy Timpano made 22 saves in the Erie win as new bench boss Chris Hartsburg won in his OHL head coaching debut. Zach Gallant and newly instated captain Logan DeNoble had goals for the defending East Division champion Petes in the loss.
