The Soo Greyhounds had goals from five different scorers while Los Angeles Kings prospect Matthew Villalta made 21 saves in his return to the lineup to defeat visiting London 5-1. The Hounds rebounded from a loss in their home opener as Tim Gettinger (2) and Keeghan Howdeshell (1) put them up 2-0 after one period. A slick Morgan Frost (1) penalty shot goal came with 4:36 remaining in the second before 2018 NHL Draft prospect Barrett Hayton (1) increased the lead to 4-0 with a quick release inside the final two minutes. Overage forward Hayden Verbeek (1) would also score before London’s Adrian Carbonara (3) would end Villalta’s shutout bid with 4:50 left in the third. The Hounds went a perfect 3-for-3 on the power play, outshooting the Knights 39-22.
