New Jersey Devils prospect Evan Cormier was perfect with 27 saves in a 4-0 shutout win as the Saginaw Spirit got into the win column on home ice. Cole Coskey (1, 2) scored a pair of first period goals while rookie Ben Badalamenti (1) scored his first in the OHL and Damien Giroux (1) finished things off midway through the third. The Spirit blanked the visiting Ottawa 67’s as Cormier earned his seventh career shutout and fifth as a member of the Spirit, tying the current team record held by Jake Paterson (2010-15). Spirit rookie Blade Jenkins earned his first OHL point with an assist while going 15-for-17 in the faceoff circle. The Spirit improve to 1-1-1-0 while Ottawa drops to 2-2-0-0.
