The Peterborough Petes are the first OHL team to 3-0 on the new season, defeating the CHL’s fifth-ranked Niagara IceDogs by a score of 5-2 on home ice. Arizona Coyotes prospect Liam Kirk (2) earned first star honours with the game winning goal while Brady Hinz (3), Chad Denault (1), Cole Fraser (1) and Chris Paquette (5) also tallied. The Petes outshot the Dogs 35-28 as Hunter Jones turned aside 26 shots in goal. Matthew Philip (1) and Ben Jones (2) scored for the 1-1 IceDogs.
