Damien Giroux Commits to Spirit
SAGINAW, Mich. – Saginaw Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill announced today the commitment of 2016 third round pick Damien Giroux for the 2016-17 season.
“We are pleased to announce that Damien has signed a contract with the Saginaw Spirit. He is a player with a lot of skill and potential but most importantly he has extremely high character.” said Drinkill.
Giroux, 16, led the Sudbury Wolves Minor Midget AAA team in scoring last season with 28 goals and 41 assists for 69 points. The 5’9”, 165 lbs. speedy centerman from Val Caron, Ontario was selected 44th overall by the Spirit in the 2016 Priority Selection Draft and is eligible for the NHL Draft in 2018.
