2021-22 OHL Season: Dates to circle

The OHL released its 2021-22 regular season schedule last month. Now we take an opportunity to circle back and check out a few dates fans can circle on their calendars.

Thurs. Oct. 7, 2021 – Opening night in North Bay, Barrie and Windsor
OHL action resumes on Thursday October 7th, with the first puck drop coming in North Bay as the Battalion take on the Peterborough Petes. Shortly after, the Barrie Colts play host to the Niagara IceDogs and the Windsor Spitfires take on the West Division rival Sarnia Sting.

Mon. Oct. 11, 2021 – Musty vs. Nelson on Thanksgiving Monday
A showdown of the League’s two most recent first overall picks takes place on Thanksgiving Monday in North Bay as 2020 first choice Ty Nelson and the Troops take on 2021 first overall pick Quentin Musty and the Sudbury Wolves. The Central Division bout highlights a three-game Thanksgiving schedule with other matchups in Ottawa (vs. Oshawa at 2:00pm) and Windsor (vs. London at 2:05pm).

Nov. 12, Dec. 17, Mar. 11 – All 20 OHL teams in action
All 20 teams hit the ice on three separate dates in the 2021-22 schedule including Friday, November 12th, Friday, December 17th and Friday, March 11th.

Sun. Dec. 19, 2021 – Final game before holiday break
The Kingston Frontenacs and Oshawa Generals carry us into the holidays with a 6:05pm start at the Tribute Communities Centre. It’s the only matchup on the Sunday schedule.

Fri. Dec. 31, 2021 & Sat. Jan. 1, 2022 – Ring in the New Year
With a total of eight games scheduled for New Years Eve and an additional six for New Years Day, fans will have plenty of OHL action to keep up with. The Oshawa Generals and North Bay Battalion, Owen Sound Attack and Kitchener Rangers and Peterborough Petes and Niagara IceDogs will play home-and-home scenarios. The transition from 2021 into 2022 marks the date that OHL clubs switch uniform assignments, moving into a predominately dark jersey look on home ice.

The eighth annual YourTV Hockey Day in the OHL hits screens on Sunday, February 6th with action starting at 1:00pm as the Kingston Frontenacs visit the North Bay Battalion. The Peterborough Petes face the Hamilton Bulldogs at 4:00pm before the Sarnia Sting wrap things up with a visit to the Windsor Spitfires at 7:00pm. The triple-header includes great features that provide a look inside OHL organizations and their interactions with the community.

Mon. Feb. 21, 2022 –┬áNine-game Family Day
Eighteen of the OHL’s 20 teams are in action on Family Day, set for Monday, February 21st. Games take place in Hamilton, Kingston, Mississauga, Guelph, London, Oshawa, Peterborough, Sarnia and Windsor.
