Colts to retire Bryan Little’s #18

The Barrie Colts will honour their all-time leading scorer on Saturday, retiring Bryan Little‘s number 18 jersey prior to puck drop against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Little racked up 342 points including 153 goals and 189 assists over 247 regular season games in a Colts uniform from 2003-2007 before embarking on a lengthy NHL career that has been spent entirely with the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets organization.

A 32-year-old product of Cambridge, Ont., Little came to the Colts as a third round pick in the 2003 OHL Priority Selection and immediately turned heads, earning OHL Rookie of the Year honours in 2003-04 while also capturing a gold medal with Ontario’s Under-17 team. He’d go on to record back-to-back 100-point seasons in 2006 and 2007, being selected by Atlanta with the 12th overall pick of the 2006 NHL Draft. He played a part in Canada’s gold medal effort at the 2007 World Juniors in Leksand, Sweden.

Little made the jump to the NHL in 2007-08 while also helping the AHL’s Chicago Wolves win a Calder Cup title to wrap-up the year. Now in his 13th NHL season, Little has registered 521 career points (217-304–521) over 843 career regular season games. His 561 games are the second-most by a Jets player since the franchise moved to Winnipeg in 2010-11.
