Hamilton, ON – The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced that the team has received commitments from 2016 10th round (185th overall) selection Dylan D’Agostino as well as 19-year-old free agent forward Owen Burnell.
D’Agostino, a 6’0”, 170-pound right winger, put in a good showing at the just completed Bulldogs Training Camp. The 17-year-old North Bay, Ont. native spent last season with the NOJHL’s Powassan Voodoos Jr. A club where he recorded 20 goals, 14 assists and 34 points in 49 contests.
Bulldogs President and General Manager Steve Staios says this signing adds to the Bulldogs skill level upfront. “Dylan simply came into camp and earned himself an opportunity,” said Staios. “He had a great year in Powassan and continued that strong play into camp. He brings a combination of skill, hockey sense and work ethic.”
Formerly a seventh round (133rd overall) pick of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, Owen Burnell commits to the Bulldogs after suiting up in two games as an affiliated player with Hamilton last season.
The 19-year-old native of Caledonia, Ont. spent last season with the GOJHL’s Ancaster Avalanche Jr. B club where he scored 22 goals and added 24 assists for 46 points in 38 contests.
President and General Manager Steve Staios says Burnell is a welcome addition to the Bulldogs’ family. “Owen has great hockey sense and skill and is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win games,” said Staios. “He is versatile and can play anywhere in our lineup.”
