IceDogs’ Theriault commits to York for 2021-22

The York University Lion’s men’s hockey program announced via Twitter on Tuesday that 20-year-old Niagara IceDogs forward Lucas Theriault has committed for the 2021-22 season.

A 5-foot-8, 165Ib. native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Theriault posted 11 points (5-6–11) in 48 games as a 19-year-old rookie in 2019-20. Able to play both centre and left wing, Theriault is a former Great North Midget League Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in addition to leading the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League in both goals (40) and points (76) with the Soo Thunderbirds in 2018-19.

Originally a 12th round pick of the IceDogs in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, Theriault joins a Lions program that last claimed the Queen’s Cup as OUA champions in 2017.
