USA Hockey announced Tuesday that London Knights defenceman Hunter Skinner is one of 39 players invited to the U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp set for October 8-13 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. The camp will be closed to the public, including fans, scouts and media.
Skinner, 19, was a fourth round (112th overall) pick of the New York Rangers in the 2019 NHL Draft and recorded 32 points (6-26–32) over 62 games in his first OHL season with the Knights in 2019-20. The 6-foot-2, 187Ib native of Pinckney, Mich. was originally chosen by the Knights in the fifth round (97th overall) of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.
The camp is part of the evaluation process in selecting the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship Dec. 25, 2020, through Jan. 5, 2021, in Edmonton, Alberta.
The United States enters the 2021 World Juniors following a fourth place finish at the 2020 event in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic. The Americans won silver at the 2019 event in Vancouver, BC.
