OHL Announces 2013-14 All-Star Teams

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the All-Star teams for the 2013-14 OHL regular season.

 

Red Tilson Trophy winner and OHL Top Scorer Connor Brown of the Erie Otters headlines the 1st All-Star Team alongside teammate Dane Fox who earned Overage Player of the Year honours with a league-high 64 goals.  Canadian National Junior Team captain Scott Laughton of the Oshawa Generals is the other forward voted to the first team, with OHL Defenceman of the Year Aaron Ekblad of the Barrie Colts and Slater Koekkoek of the Windsor Spitfires voted on defence.  Goaltender of the Year Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers also earned 1st All-Star Team honours, with OHL Coach of the Year DJ Smith behind the bench earning first team recognition after being named to the 3rd All-Star Team last season.

 

The Otters lead the way with a total of six representatives including Brown and Fox along with second team honours going to forward Connor McDavid, defenceman Adam Pelech, and coach Kris Knoblauch.  Goaltender Oscar Dansk was recognized on the 3rd All-Star Team.  The OHL champion Guelph Storm have three representatives among the All-Stars including forward Scott Kosmachuk (2nd Team), defenceman Matt Finn (3rd Team), and coach Scott Walker (3rd Team).  Other clubs with multiple representatives include the Generals with Laughton and Michael Dal Colle (2nd Team), the London Knights with defenceman Nikita Zadorov (2nd Team), and forward Max Domi (3rd Team), and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds with goaltender Matt Murray (2nd Team), and defenceman Darnell Nurse (3rd Team).  Sam Bennett of the Kingston Frontenacs and Nick Baptiste of the Sudbury Wolves were also voted 3rd Team All-Stars.

 

The OHL All-Star Teams were selected by the OHL’s General Managers.  Players were voted on by position and received five points for a first place vote, three for a second place vote, and one for a third place vote.  In the case of defencemen, the top two selections received five points, the third and fourth selections received three points, and the fifth and sixth selections each received a single point.
