OHL clubs celebrating World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend

A number of teams across the Ontario Hockey League are taking the opportunity to celebrate World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend.

The Guelph Storm welcomed Canadian National Women’s Team defenceman Renata Fast to the Sleeman Centre on Friday as the Toronto Furies rearguard conducted the ceremonial pre-game faceoff at centre ice. Fast spent some time on the concourse meeting and greeting fans during the first intermission.

The Hamilton Bulldogs welcomed members from the Oakville Hornets and Burlington Barracudas girls hockey programs to conduct the ceremonial pre-game faceoff on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs have more exciting plans for Sunday’s afternoon contest against the Kingston Frontenacs as special guest appearances from members of Canada’s Women’s National Team are in the works along with some great Hockey Canada giveaways for fans.

The Mississauga Steelheads will welcome 2018 Olympic silver medalist Natalie Spooner to Sunday’s matinee matchup against the Windsor Spitfires. Spooner will be dropping the puck at centre ice pre-game and singing autographs throughout the afternoon.

The OHL is a proud supporter of the IIHF World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend.
