Arizona Coyotes prospect Dylan Strome became the Erie Otters’ new franchise scoring leader on Saturday, netting a goal and three assists in a commanding 9-1 victory over the visiting Guelph Storm.
Strome’s 10th goal of the season 8:43 into the second period put him ahead of Brad Boyes (309 pts., 1998-2002) for first on the Otters franchise list. Strome finished Saturday’s contest with 311 points, including 102 goals and 209 assists over 198 regular season contests.
Originally the second overall pick of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection, Strome led the OHL in scoring in his sophomore season in 2014-15, receiving the Eddie Powers Trophy with 129 points (45-84–129) in 68 games. He became the first player in Otters history to record back-to-back 100-point seasons a year later, registering 111 points (37-74–111) over 56 contests.
After beginning this season in the NHL, Strome has collected 32 points (10-22–32) in 14 games, recording multi-point outputs in 10 of those outings.
Strome is also the Otters’ franchise leader in assists and currently sits sixth in the club’s goal scoring ranks.
The Otters have re-written the franchise record books of late, a result of continued success as the first team in OHL history to record three consecutive 50-win seasons. Goaltender Devin Williams set a number of new franchise records last season while overage defenceman Darren Raddysh became the club’s new all-time scoring leader among defencemen last week.
