Rose and Evans Commit to Battalion

NORTH BAY – The North Bay Battalion have announced that 2017 OHL Priority Selection choices Simon Rose and Kurtis Evans have committed to the club.

The two wrapped up the Battalion’s annual two-day Orientation Camp on Sunday, one that included 30 skaters and five goaltenders.

A 16-year-old native of Renfrew, Ont., Rose was the Battalion’s second round (35th overall) choice in April from the Pembroke Lumber Kings Midget AAA program.

The 6-foot, 161Ib. rearguard played in 39 games, recording 10 goals, 11 assists and 21 points while also appearing in five games with Pembroke’s Tier II Jr. A parent club. Rose also competed in the 2017 OHL Cup as a member of the Eastern Ontario Wild and recently placed third at the 2017 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener as a member of Team HEO, recording a goal and an assist over five contests.

North Bay’s third round (43rd overall) selection Kurtis Evans also committed to the Troops.

The 16-year-old native of Uxbridge, Ont. recorded 14 goals, 18 assists and 32 points in 35 contests with the Central Ontario Wolves Minor Midgets this past season and also appeared in three games with the Stouffville Spirit Tier II Jr. A club, recording a goal and an assist. He recorded a goal and a helper in five games with fourth place Team OMHA White at the 2017 OHL Gold Cup.
