Runco and Stewart commit to IceDogs

ST. CATHARINES, ON – The Niagara IceDogs are proud to announce the signings of blueliner Gabriel Runco and forward William Stewart.
Acquired from the Peterborough Petes in September, Runco is an 18-year-old right-shot defender who has spent the 2022-23 season with the Brantford 99ers of the OJHL. The Ancaster, Ont. native has recorded eight assists in 41 games at the Junior B level while also appearing in five games with the IceDogs. Runco was originally an eighth round (154th overall) pick of the Peterborough Petes in 2021 from the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs U16 program.
An acquisition from the Flint Firebirds, Stewart is a 6-foot-3, 170Ib. right-winger who has recorded 16 points (5-11–16) in 42 games with the Brantford 99ers of the OJHL this season. The 17-year-old winger has also appeared in five games with the IceDogs, and was originally a 15th round (286th overall) pick by Flint in 2021 from the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs U16 program.
The IceDogs return to action on Thursday at home to the Erie Otters.
