Spirit’s Perfetti sets new franchise rookie goal scoring record

Rookie standout Cole Perfetti continues to turn heads, adding two more goals on Saturday as the Saginaw Spirit defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-3 on the road.
Perfetti etched his name in the Saginaw Spirit franchise record books with his 28th goal of the season, surpassing Jan Mursak (2006-07) for the most by a rookie in a single season.

A 17-year-old from Whitby, Ont., Perfetti was the fifth overall pick of the 2018 OHL Priority Selection from the Vaughan Kings Minor Midgets where he put up 125 points (52-73–125) over 64 games last season.
Perfetti wasted no time making an impression in the OHL, scoring twice in his debut back on Sept. 19th against Sault Ste. Marie. The 5-foot-10, 180Ib forward has provided Saginaw with steady production of late, registering multi-point totals in five of his last six outings.
Perfetti enjoyed a strong showing at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Saint John and Quispamsis, New Brunswick in November, recording nine points (2-7–9) over five games as a member of Team Canada White.
The 2020 NHL Draft prospect currently leads OHL rookies with 29 goals and 61 points to go with a plus-23 plus/minus rating over 53 games.
