Sting’s Stratis commits to Ottawa for 2021-22

The University of Ottawa GeeGees men’s hockey program announced via Twitter on Thursday that Sarnia Sting overage defenceman Peter Stratis has committed to the 2021-22 season.

Stratis, 21, has played in four OHL seasons after originally being chosen 11th overall by the Ottawa 67’s in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The Scarborough, Ont. native recorded 15 points (3-12–15) over 56 games between Sarnia and Sudbury in 2019-20, giving him a total of 72 points (16-56–72) over 230 career regular season games.

A graduate of the Mississauga Rebels U16 program, Stratis represented Canada White at the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

The 6-foot, 187Ib. defender joins an OttawaU program that finished the 2019-20 OUA season as Queen’s Cup finalists, falling to the Guelph Gryphons in a triple overtime championship finale.
