1ST STAR: JOSEPH GARREFFA (OTTAWA 67’s) – 2G
Reigning OHL ‘On the Run’ Player of the Week Joseph Garreffa stretched his point streak to 16 games with a pair of goals in a 5-2 New Year’s Day road win over the Oshawa Generals. The Ottawa overage winger scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season, giving him 48 points (20-28–48) over just 23 games. The fifth year veteran from Toronto, Ont. joined the 67’s earlier this season following four years spent with the Kitchener Rangers. He attended rookie camp with the Los Angeles Kings in September.
2ND STAR: BRETT NEUMANN (OSHAWA GENERALS) – 1G, 1A
Oshawa Generals overage forward Brett Neumann recorded a goal and an assist in Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to the visiting Ottawa 67’s. The 20-year-old scored his 26th goal of the season on a setup from linemate Ty Tullio, giving him 48 points (26-22–48) over 34 games. Neumann has recorded four consecutive multi-point games and leads the Generals in scoring this season. The 5-foot-9 centreman is in his fifth OHL season having also spent time with the Kingston Frontenacs and Erie Otters.
3RD STAR: MARCO ROSSI (OTTAWA 67’s) – 1A
Draft eligible Ottawa 67’s forward Marco Rossi climbed into the OHL scoring lead with an assist in Wednesday’s 5-2 road win. The 18-year-old centreman extended his point streak to 15 games, setting up Garreffa for his second goal of the afternoon. Rossi has 63 points (23-40–63) over just 27 games this season, giving him an impressive 2.33 points-per-game. The native of Feldkirch, Austria has been assigned an ‘A’ rating on NHL Central Scouting’s Players to Watch list.
