1ST STAR: COLE COSKEY (SAGINAW SPIRIT) – 3G
New York Islanders prospect Cole Coskey netted his first hat-trick of the season as the Saginaw Spirit snuck past visiting London 6-5. Coskey scored a pair in the first period and completed the trio midway through the second, helping Saginaw reclaim top spot in the West Division. The 20-year-old native of Zion, Ill. is now three goals shy of 100 on his OHL career, producing 54 points (25-29–54) over 41 games this season. Saginaw’s career games played leader, Coskey was a seventh round pick of the Islanders this past summer.
2ND STAR: HAYDEN FOWLER (ERIE OTTERS) – 1G, 2A
Erie Otters forward Hayden Fowler had a goal and two assists while going 13-for-16 in the faceoff circle in a 4-2 win over visiting Niagara. Fowler connected with new linemate Kyen Sopa 2:20 into the first period and later assisted on goals by Sopa and Jamie Drysdale. The 18-year-old from Kingston, Ont. has 35 points (14-21–35) over 37 games this season after missing much of the 2018-19 campaign to injury. Fowler is a former first round pick of the Soo Greyhounds in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection.
3RD STAR: CONNOR McMICHAEL (LONDON KNIGHTS) – 3G
Washington Capitals prospect Connor McMichael scored a hat-trick but his London Knights came up short in Saginaw, falling by a score of 6-5. McMichael’s fourth hat-trick of the season gives him 28 goals and a total of 63 points over 29 games. The 19-year-old from Ajax, Ont. currently sits sixth in OHL scoring. He was a first round (25th overall) pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2019 NHL Draft and recently won a gold medal with Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
