1ST STAR: JACK QUINN (OTTAWA 67’s) – 3G
Top 2020 NHL Draft prospect Jack Quinn scored his third hat-trick in the month of January Saturday afternoon, helping the Ottawa 67’s blank visiting Hamilton 5-0. Quinn increased his goal-scoring total to a league-leading 34 as Ottawa won a 13th straight at home. The Cobden, Ont. native earned Jim Gregory Player of the Game Award honours for Team Red in Thursday’s Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Hamilton. He’s the ninth-ranked North American skater on NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings.
2ND STAR: NICHOLAS CANADE (MISSISSAUGA STEELHEADS) – 3G, 1A
Mississauga Steelheads forward Nicholas Canade scored his second hat-trick in the month of January while also tacking on an assist as the Trout skated to a 5-2 win in Barrie. Canada scored late in the first period and completed his hat-trick with a pair in the latter half of the third. The 5-foot-9, 160Ib. winger from Mississauga, Ont. has 31 points (14-17–31) over 36 games this season. The former 11th round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection attended training camp with the New Jersey Devils in September.
3RD STAR: MITCHELL HOELSCHER (OTTAWA 67’s) – 2G, 2A
New Jersey Devils prospect Mitchell Hoelscher was a force on Saturday, scoring twice while adding two assists as the Ottawa 67’s skated to their 20th win in the last 21 games, defeating Hamilton 5-0. Hoelscher scored and set up a goal shorthanded while also picking up a goal and an assist on the power play. The soon-to-be 20-year-old from Elora, Ont. also had five shots and went 13-for-18 in the faceoff circle, increasing his season totals to 50 points (24-26–50) over 40 games. Hoelscher was a sixth round pick of the New Jersey Devils in the 2018 NHL Draft.
