1ST STAR: IVAN LODNIA (NIAGARA ICEDOGS) – 2G, 4A
Niagara overager Ivan Lodnia registered a career-high six points in his IceDogs’ 9-8 overtime win over the North Bay Battalion. The 20-year-old winger notched two goals within the game’s opening forty minutes and earned four helpers, including one on Mason Howard’s late overtime winner. Through 23 games with the Dogs in his fifth OHL season, the Novi, Mich. native has totaled 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points. Lodnia was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, and spent his first three OHL seasons with the Erie Otters before being acquired by the IceDogs in the 2018 offseason.
HIGHLIGHTS
2ND STAR: MASON HOWARD (NIAGARA ICEDOGS) – 3G
Sophomore defender Mason Howard netted his first OHL hat trick that included the OT winner, earning Niagara the victory in a back and forth 9-8 overtime contest over the fellow Central Division North Bay Battalion. The 18-year-old product of London, Ont. wrapped up a tightly-fought seven-goal first period with a shorthanded marker to give his team a 4-3 edge. His second on the night came midway through the third period to tie the game up at 7-7, and he completed the hat-trick with only a few seconds remaining in the extra frame. Howard was picked up by the Dogs in the 10th round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, and owns six goals and six assists for 12 points in his second year with the squad.
HIGHLIGHTS
3RD STAR: JACK QUINN (OTTAWA 67’S) – 3G
Jack Quinn’s standout season en route to the 2020 NHL Draft continued in style as he notched his first career OHL hat-trick in his team’s record-setting 15th straight win. It came as his Ottawa 67’s doubled the Kingston Frontenacs by an 8-4 tally on Thursday afternoon, where he earned goals in the second and third periods, lifting his goal total to team-leading 25. A second round pick in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, the Cobden, Ont. holds 41 points through his second year with the Barber Poles.
