1ST STAR: COLE SCHWINDT (MISSISSAUGA STEELHEADS) – 3G
Mississauga’s Cole Schwindt scored a natural hat-trick that included the overtime winner in a 5-4 comeback win over the visiting Kitchener Rangers. The 18-year-old winger, a native of Kitchener, scored twice in the third period to tie the game at 4-4 with 50 seconds left on the clock. Schwindt then scored a third 45 seconds into overtime to complete the hat-trick and complete the comeback. In this third stint with the Fish, Schwindt leads the team in scoring with 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points in 43 games. He was a fourth round pick of the Steelheads in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, and a third round selection of the Florida Panthers at last year’s NHL Draft.
2ND STAR: ZACK TROTT (SOO GREYHOUNDS) – 1G, 2A
Soo Greyhounds leading scorer in Zack Trott put up a three-point performance in his team’s 6-4 win over the North Bay Battalion. Trott, a native of Honeywood, Ont., picked up helpers on goals from Joe Carroll and Tye Kartye before finding the back of the net with five minutes to go in the game, closing out the scoring. The 19-year-old forward holds 17 goals and 48 points through 44 games in his third season with the Greyhounds. He was a 14th round pick of the Greyhounds in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.
3RD STAR: AUSTEN KEATING (OTTAWA 67’s) – 1G, 2A
Overager Austen Keating scored a goal and two assists in the Barber Poles’ 5-2 win over the visiting Saginaw Spirit Sunday afternoon. He earned helpers on opening goals from Marco Rossi and Adam Varga before scoring his 21st of the season at the end of the second period for a 3-1 Ottawa lead. In his fifth year with the squad, the 20-year-old OHL veteran has amassed 60 points (21-39-60) in just 39 games, currently placing him 13th in scoring among all OHL skaters. Keating, a native of Guelph, was scooped up 16th overall by the 67’s at the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He’s four points shy of 300 on his OHL career.
