1ST STAR: BARRETT HAYTON (SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS):
Soo Greyhounds captain Barrett Hayton scored a shorthanded wraparound goal and added three assists, powering his team to a 5-2 Game 3 win in Owen Sound. Hayton’s four point night is a new career best in his 36-game playoff career. The effort follows up a two-goal performance in Game 2 of the series. An 18-year-old native of Peterborough, Ont., Hayton put up 66 points (26-40–66) over an injury-shortened 39 games in his third OHL season. He also represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Hayton was Arizona’s first round (5th overall) pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.
2ND STAR: JAROMIR PYTLIK (SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS):
Rookie winger Jaromir Pytlik had a goal and an assist as the Soo Greyhounds won Game 3 in Owen Sound by a score of 5-2. Pytlik opened the scoring 6:46 into the first period before picking up an assist on Alex Johnston’s third period marker. The 17-year-old native of Dacice, Czech Rep. recorded 19 points (11-8–19) over 26 games with the Greyhounds this past season after starting the year in the Czech Elite League. He was Sault Ste. Marie’s second round pick in the 2018 CHL Import Draft. Pytlik is eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft.
3RD STAR: BRADY LYLE (OWEN SOUND ATTACK):
Veteran blueliner Brady Lyle picked up a pair of assists on Monday as the Owen Sound Attack dropped Game 3 of their first round series against the visiting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds by a score of 5-2. Lyle chipped in on tallies by Barret Kirwin and Aidan Dudas, finding the latter for a one-timer to tie the score at two with eight seconds left in the opening period. The 6-foot-2, 200Ib. rearguard from North Bay, Ont. recently wrapped up his fourth OHL season, putting up a career best 41 points (11-30–41) over 68 games. Lyle attended rookie camp with the Ottawa Senators last September.
