1ST STAR: AKIL THOMAS (NIAGARA ICEDOGS):
Los Angeles Kings prospect Akil Thomas finished with four points (1-3–4) as the Niagara IceDogs wrapped up the weekend with their fourth straight win, defeating the Flint Firebirds 7-1. Thomas scored a shorthanded goal in the second period while tacking on three primary assists, bringing his season point total to 25 (8-17–25) in 15 games. The 18-year-old native of Brandon, Fla. is in his third season with the IceDogs, producing 154 points (51-103–154) over 144 career regular season games. The former first round pick was Los Angeles’ second round choice this past summer.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

2ND STAR: GERA PODDUBNYI (ERIE OTTERS):
Third-year veteran Gera Poddubnyi picked up an overtime winner off the forecheck, giving him two goals and an assist as the Erie Otters defeated visiting Mississauga 5-4. Erie’s fifth win in the past six games saw the Sarov, Russia native score with 1:03 left in the first period before chipping in with an assist on a third period marker by Hayden Fowler. Poddubnyi’s overtime winner came 1:16 into the extra frame with an assist from Luke Beamish. A former OHL Champion, Poddubnyi has 16 points (6-10–16) through 14 games this season. He was Erie’s first round pick in the 2016 CHL Import Draft.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

3RD STAR: OWEN TIPPETT (MISSISSAUGA STEELHEADS):
Florida Panthers prospect Owen Tippett helped his club earn a point on Sunday as the Mississauga Steelheads 5-4 in overtime on the road against Erie. Tippett scored twice and added an assist while registering seven shots on goal as the Steelheads wrapped up the weekend with an 8-4-2-0 record despite their third straight loss. Tippett, who scored a goal that merited #BestOfOHL Play of the Night recognition, has 14 points (8-6–14) through just eight games this season and is currently riding a four-game point streak. The 19-year-old from Peterborough, Ont. was the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NHL Draft.
