Sudbury, ON – The Sudbury Wolves announced Monday that 2018 first overall OHL Priority Selection choice Quinton Byfield has committed to the club.
The 2018 OMHA ETA Player of the Year led the league with 92 points including 48 goals and 44 assists over 34 games to help his club capture an OMHA Championships and a Semi-Final berth at the 2018 OHL Cup powered by Under Armour.
His regular season points-per-game mark in the OMHA ranks third all-time behind current NHL stars Steven Stamkos and Taylor Hall. A left shot centre that is 6’4” tall and 202 lbs, Byfield was born August 19, 2002, making him eligible for the NHL Draft in 2020.

For him to commit to the Sudbury Wolves and the OHL is tremendous for our hockey team and for our fans,” said Sudbury Wolves VP & GM Rob Papineau. “He is a special player who is equally as impressive off the ice as he is on it. We are very happy and excited that he will be in the lineup and part of our community this upcoming season.”
Byfield recorded four goals, three assists and seven points over six games at the 2018 OHL Cup powered by Under Armour, helping guide the Express to an overall record of 5-1.
Wolves Fans will get their first chance to see Byfield and several other new draft picks this weekend at the club’s annual Rookie Orientation Camp which will be held at the Sudbury Arena. On-ice sessions will be held Saturday evening from 7-9pm and again Sunday morning from 11-1pm.
