Sudbury, ON – The Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club is pleased to announce that overage goaltender Mario Culina will join the Sudbury Wolves effective immediately.  Culina had been playing for Ryerson University’s Men’s Hockey Team this season.  He is a native of Sault Ste Marie, ON and was a Memorial Cup champion with the Windsor Spitfires last spring. Culina was also a Dudley Hewitt Cup champion with the Soo Thunderbirds Jr. A in 2015.  Culina is expected to make his Wolves debut in his hometown this Wednesday night when the Wolves visit the Soo Greyhounds.

“This season our team has been scoring goals and as an organization we feel that Mario can help us on the backend,” said Wolves General Manager Rob Papineau.  “The reality is we have had numerous untimely injuries this season and with missing the leadership and experience of overage defenseman Kyle Rhodes, this offers our young team another experienced OHL veteran who has a track record of championship success.

“As a result of Ryan Valentini‘s season ending surgery, this created an overage roster spot and an opportunity to claim Mario.”
