Frontenacs’ Bennett signs with Flames

CALGARY, AB — The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed 2014 first round draft pick Sam Bennett to a three-year entry-level contract.

The Flames selected Bennett with the fourth overall pick, which is the highest Calgary has ever picked, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The native of Toronto, ON played 57 games with Kingston of the OHL during the 2013-14 season, recording 36 goals and 55 assists for 91 points while accumulating 118 penalty minutes.

The top ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting for the draft, Bennett was the recipient of the CHL’s Top Prospect Award this season.

Bennett was one of 41 OHL players selected in the 2014 NHL Draft including 10 in the first round.
