Slater Koekkoek named Petes’ Captain

The Peterborough Petes announced this afternoon that Slater Koekkoek has been named the 61st Captain in Petes history.  Slater is playing in his third season with the Petes and was the 10th overall selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Joining Slater as Assistant Captains are a trio of NHL Draft Picks in Clark Seymour (Pittsburgh), Alan Quine (Detroit) and Derek Mathers (Philadelphia).   While this is Derek’s second season as an Assistant Captain, both Clark and Alan will wear a letter for the first time.

The Captains will officially be introduced to the public this afternoon at 5:00pm during the Petes Annual Season Ticket holder BBQ being held at Ricky’s All Day Grill.

The Petes open their home pre-season schedule on Thursday night when they host the Oshawa Generals at 7:05pm at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.  Ticket for this game and all regular season home games will go on sale Thursday morning at the Memorial Centre Box Office.  The Petes regular season home opening game is Thursday September 20th when they host the Oshawa Generals.
