Barrie Colts fans met head coach Dale Hawerchuk with a standing ovation prior to puck drop on Saturday as the Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, who is currently away from the team as he battles stomach cancer, honoured four of the franchise’s five-year veterans at centre ice.

As part of the Colts’ 25th Anniversary season celebrations, Hawerchuk and owner Howie Campbell were on hand to recognize five-year Colts in Hunter Tremblay (2002-07), Zach Hall (2009-14), Ben Hawerchuk (2014-19) and Aidan Brown (2015-Present) prior to Barrie’s game against the Niagara IceDogs.
