The Saginaw Spirit won their fifth straight game as Minnesota Wild prospect Damien Giroux (6) wrapped up an outstanding weekend with the game winner. Giroux struck with 4:56 left in the third period with assists from Bode Wilde and Albert Michnac as the Spirit pulled into the West Division lead at 6-2-1-0. Giroux picked up an assist on Nicholas Porco’s (8) opening goal 3:38 into regulation. Arizona Coyotes prospect Ivan Prosvetov earned first star honours with a 24-save showing, surrendering Kitchener’s lone goal off the stick of Joseph Garreffa (5) midway through the first period. Rangers netminder Luke Richardson made 25 saves in the loss as Kitchener falls to 5-2-2-0.
