Albert Michnac set up Damien Giroux (2) for the game winner 7:29 into the third period as the Saginaw Spirit scored a 4-3 road win over the Erie Otters. Sophomore forward Nicholas Porco (6, 7) continued his hot start to the season, scoring a pair of goals 33 seconds apart to open the second period while DJ Busdeker (1) also tallied for Saginaw. New York Islanders prospect Blade Jenkins had a pair of assists while goaltender Ivan Prosvetov made 28 saves. The Otters never quit, battling back to tie the score at three on Petr Cajka’s (1) first OHL goal. Emmett Sproule (3) and Gera Poddubnyi (3) also tallied for Erie. The win sees the Spirit improve to a West Division-leading 4-2-1-0 mark while Erie suffers a fourth straight loss, falling to 1-4.
