The Kingston Frontenacs may not have been loaded with early picks in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, but when it came time for the club to draft they called the names of three players to cover every positional need.
At forward the Fronts selected Cody Morgan with the 12th overall pick after contributing 41 points in 32 games played with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. On defence, Evan Brand of the Mississauga Rebels was chosen in the second round with the 29th overall pick. Kingston’s third pick waited until the fourth round and was used on goaltender Ryan Dugas of the OHL Cup champion Mississauga Reps who also captured an OHL Gold Cup title together with Brand in early May.
All three GTHL products officially announced their commitment to the Frontenacs just prior to the club’s Orientation Camp in June.
The club also recently announced the hiring of Head Coach Jay Varady and a front office restructure that includes Doug Gilmour as President of Hockey Operations and Darren Keily the team’s General Manager.
Morgan, Brand, and Dugas will represent the Frontenacs at Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-17 Selection Camp in Calgary on July 22nd.
