The Kitchener Rangers were busy on and off the ice this spring capturing their first Midwest Division title since 2008 and choosing three players inside the top-40 of the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.

A bright future in Rangers Nation could feature forwards Reid Valade (17th overall) and Isaac Langdon (32nd overall), plus defenceman Donovan Sebrango (40th overall).

The last time the team opened the draft with two forwards was 2014 in a class that featured Adam Mascherin and Connor Bunnaman who were four-year blue shirts and integral parts of the 2018 success.

Valade played last season with the Toronto Marlboros where he won a GTHL championship scoring 31 goals and 38 assists for 69 points in 55 games.  He then helped Team GTHL Blue capture an OHL Gold Cup title in May, just a couple weeks after officially committing to the Rangers.

Langdon was a member of the Quinte Red Devils where he scored 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points in 33 games before playing 11 playoff games with the OJHL’s Wellington Dukes where he chipped in two points.  He also officially announced his commitment to Kitchener in April.

Sebrango recorded 25 points in 30 games skating with CIH Academy White in 2017-18 and played four games in the CCHL with the Ottawa Jr. Senators.  His official commitment to the team was announced in June.

All three played in the 2018 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener where they made an impression on U17 scouts just like they hope to impress Rangers fans for years to come.  They’ll now compete at Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-17 Development Camp from July 21-27 in Calgary.

The Rangers held one other pick in the opening three rounds used on forward Declan McDonnell from the Buffalo Jr. Sabres chosen 57th overall.
