Rookie forward Jean-Luc Foudy fed overage veteran Luke Kutkevicius on an overtime two-on-one to give the Windsor Spitfires a 4-3 triumph over the Guelph Storm in their home opener. The two clubs were knotted at two with seven minutes to go in the the third frame before Will Cuylle stepped up with his first OHL goal, setting the stage for overtime heroics. Spits netminder Kari Piiroinen earned first star honours, picking up his first OHL victory with a 43-save showing. Lev Starikov and Mathew MacDougall also scored for Windsor while the Guelph offence was powered by Dallas Stars prospect Liam Hawel with a pair of goals. Arizona Coyotes pick Nate Schnarr also found the back of the net.
